Technical Stuff
We realize most people wanting a website are either semi-knowledgeable about the technical aspect, or simply don't want to know about it at all.
For those of you who are interested in the technical behind the scenes information on how we develop our websites, here is everything you want to know...
- User friendliness - we have studied for many years and are constantly studying web usability and user friendliness.
- Speed - our designs use an all CSS design. No tables are used for the sake of layout and we use javascript as little as possible.
- Search Engine Optimization - we use white SEO techniques reflected in the document metatags, urls and design decisions. At the same time we are adamantly opposed to shady grey and black SEO techniques which endanger your status with the major search engines.
- Design - we follow W3C standards so that your site will look the same and its best on all modern browsers. The design will be forward compatible, in other words, the design won't break in future browsers.
- Flexibility - either we let you take care of the hosting, maintenance, backup and all, or we provide these services for your complete peace of mind.
- Security - at every step of the development and design process, we keep security in mind.
- After sale follow-up - so you never have to feel like you can't get help when you need it. If any issue comes up, contact us and we will straightforwardly tell you what we can handle at no cost and/or give you estimates for services needed.
- Programming language - our primary platform is Ruby on Rails. This translates into web sites that are much more maintainable and scalable. We can create design themes for PHP-based blogs such as Wordpress, but we avoid extensive PHP customization.
- Scalability - we can set you up with basic hosting for a small site (a couple thousand page views per day). We also offer more ambitious offerings for popular sites (millions of page views per day). Similarly the code is created for 'normal' use but should your site grow in size and popularity, we can optimize the coding to handle any amount of traffic the Internet throws at you.
- Personalized domain name(s) - you can use one domain name, have several other domains point to the home page or specific sections, and you can also use sub-domain names (such as store.your-company.com) which are used for different sections of the site. We can also set-up other shortcuts such as your-company.com/store and so on.
- Blog - if you want your blog to be fully integrated with the rest of your site, it will be part of our customized CMS, but if you just want a low-cost, but functional, stand-alone blog, it's also possible.
- International and multi-language systems available - following the Unicode standards you can have your content pages, forum posts, blog posts or comments created in any language.
- Unified user system - business-wise it's a big advantage to be able to link together the users of your store, the forums, the blogs and other sections of your site.
- Fast Site-wide Search Engine - allows your customers to find what they are looking for easily within your website. One option is to plug-in the Google search engine. If you'd like to keep your visitors within your site when they see the search results, our custom-built search offerings are a plus.
